The Venues Powering Nampa’s Future
The Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho, stands as one of the premier event complexes in the Pacific Northwest, with a history rooted in community investment and regional growth. The facility first opened in 1997 under the name Idaho Center, thanks to the support of the City of Nampa and its partnership with the Snake River Stampede, one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious rodeos. It was built to serve as a multi-purpose arena capable of hosting major entertainment, sporting, and agricultural events, allowing Nampa to compete with larger cities for high-profile attractions.
In its early years, the arena became home to various professional sports teams, including the Idaho Stampede of the Continental Basketball Association, the Idaho Stallions of the Indoor Professional Football League, and tournaments such as the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship. The Ford Amphitheater, added in 1998, quickly became one of the most popular outdoor concert venues in the region, debuting with a Shania Twain concert and later hosting artists like Bob Dylan, Tim McGraw, and Pearl Jam. The campus has since expanded to include the Ford Idaho Horse Park and Sports Center, which opened in the early 2000s to accommodate large equestrian and community events.
In 2014, the venue entered a naming rights partnership with the Treasure Valley Ford Dealers, officially becoming the Ford Idaho Center under a multimillion-dollar sponsorship agreement. Today, it remains owned by the City of Nampa and managed by Oak View Group, continuing to host over a hundred events annually—from concerts and trade shows to rodeos and graduations—making it one of Idaho’s most important cultural and economic landmarks.
The Nampa Civic Center is a versatile performing arts and event venue that hosts a wide range of cultural, civic, and private events each year. It serves as one of the Treasure Valley’s most active community gathering places with programming designed to appeal to audiences of all ages and interests.
Typical events include concerts, theatrical productions, and dance performances, particularly during the center’s annual performing arts season that runs from October through May. The 640-seat John Brandt Performing Arts Theater features a full stage and modern lighting and sound systems, making it ideal for community theater productions, tribute bands, ballets, and comedy shows. Recent performances have included “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” “Henry’s Halloween: A Rock Opera Ballet,” and presentations by Music Theatre of Idaho.
Beyond the arts, the Civic Center regularly hosts trade shows, conferences, weddings, corporate meetings, memorials, banquets, and galas. Its flexible floor plan includes banquet rooms and exhibit spaces that can accommodate small groups or gatherings of up to several hundred attendees. Annual favorites such as the Holiday Splendor Craft & Chocolate Affaire and Health and Wellness Fairs attract both local businesses and visitors from across the region.
